Who we are. Mnemocracy (the app on the web, iPhone and Android, and this website) is provided by Andrei Tchernoivan, trading as Watts for AI, The Heights, Triq Ta’ Grunju, Qala QLA 2132, Gozo, Malta, VAT number MT33118505, contact@wattsfor.ai, phone +33 6 99 75 02 43 (“we”, “us”). Part A applies to everyone who uses Mnemocracy. Part B applies if you buy Mnemocracy Plus.

Part A — Using Mnemocracy

A1. Free to use. Mnemocracy is free to use: every day’s list, the article reader, favourites and the daily quiz. You don’t need an account.

A2. Wikipedia. The facts and articles come from Wikipedia and are available under CC BY-SA 4.0; pictures come from Wikimedia Commons under their own licences, credited in the app. Wikipedia is written by volunteers and can contain mistakes. Mnemocracy is not made by or affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.

A3. Fair use. Don’t misuse Mnemocracy or its servers: no automated scraping of our servers, no attempts to get around their limits, and no use of the AI features for anything but reading about the entries they explain.

A4. The Sunday tournament. The Sunday tournament is a separate, free game with its own official rules. These terms don’t change those rules. Plus is not needed to take part and gives no advantage in it.

A5. The free service. We try to keep Mnemocracy working, but the free service is provided as it is and may change or stop. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

Part B — Mnemocracy Plus

B1. Who sells Plus. In the Mnemocracy app for iPhone, Apple sells Plus to you through the App Store as merchant of record (Apple Distribution International Ltd. for buyers in the EU) and handles payment, receipts, refunds and withdrawal under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. These Part B terms are the terms between you and us that govern your use of Plus. B2. What Plus includes. Plus adds these features to the Mnemocracy app for iPhone:

  • Quiz stats
  • Themes and icons
  • Widget styles
  • Calm mode
  • More reminders
  • Listen
  • Offline and collections

With the licence key the app shows, Plus also works in the web app at app.mnemocracy.com, in current browsers, on any device where you enter the key; there it has the same features except Widget styles and More reminders, which need the phone app. Everything that is free in Mnemocracy stays free.

B3. Your licence key. Plus is linked to your purchase in the App Store. The app shows a licence key for it (it looks like PLUS-XXXX-XXXX-…), which you can enter in the web app. It is your personal, non-transferable licence to use Plus. Keep it private: don’t publish or share it. If a key is misused, for example posted publicly, we may replace it; the app then shows the new key. On a new phone, or after reinstalling the app, tap Restore purchases on the Plus screen, signed in to the App Store with the account you bought Plus with.

B4. AI features. Ask the AI and For you are AI features: the answers are generated by an AI system (GPT-6 Luna) from Wikipedia’s text, and are marked as AI-generated. They can be wrong and are not professional advice, and they need an internet connection. Fair use: up to 60 AI requests a day per licence, Ask the AI and For you together; the count restarts at midnight UTC. Text written from Wikipedia stays under CC BY-SA 4.0. For you uses the profile you enter only with your explicit consent, as the app explains.

B5. Plans and how long they last.

  • Monthly: renews every month until you cancel; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month.
  • Yearly: renews every year until you cancel; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid year.
  • Lifetime: paid once, with no renewal: Plus for as long as Mnemocracy is offered. If we stop offering Plus, or remove Ask the AI or For you without an equivalent, within 5 years of your purchase, we pay you back one fifth of the price you paid for each whole year left of those 5 years: write to us, and we pay it by bank transfer.

Prices in the euro area, VAT included. The App Store shows the price in your country’s currency before you confirm. In the euro area: €2.99 a month, €19.99 a year and €39.99 once.

B6. Withdrawal and refunds. Apple handles withdrawal and refunds for purchases made in the App Store, under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions: in the EU you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days as those terms explain, and you can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t refund purchases made in the App Store ourselves, except as sections B5, B8 and B11 say. This is in addition to your rights under the law.

B7. Cancelling. You can cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings (see Apple’s help), or from the Plus screen in the app with Manage subscription. Plus stays active until the end of the period you paid for. You can also end the contract with us for an important reason with immediate effect: write to us.

B8. Changes to Plus. We keep Plus working and secure and provide updates for as long as your licence is active. We may change its features for a valid reason, for example a change of AI model, a change at Wikipedia, security or the law, at no extra cost to you, and we will tell you clearly. If a change affects you more than slightly, we will tell you in advance, and you may end the contract free of charge within 30 days of the change: cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings and ask Apple for a refund of the unused part; if Apple doesn’t refund it, we pay it to you ourselves (for a lifetime purchase, as section B5 says).

B9. Prices. Apple tells you about a new price for a subscription before it applies, under the App Store’s rules, and asks for your consent where they require it; you can cancel before it applies. A lifetime purchase is never charged again.

B10. If something goes wrong. If Plus doesn’t work as described, tell us at contact@wattsfor.ai and we will fix it within a reasonable time. If we can’t, you may be entitled to a price reduction or to end the contract with a refund for the time Plus didn’t work, as consumer law provides.

B11. Ending a licence. We may suspend or end a licence that is used against these terms, for example a key shared publicly and used by many people, after telling you by email and giving you a chance to put it right where that is possible. If we stop offering Plus for any other reason, we refund the unused part of your subscription (if Apple doesn’t, we pay it ourselves), or for a lifetime purchase as section B5 says.

B12. The Sunday tournament. The Sunday tournament is a separate, free game. Plus is not needed to take part and gives no advantage in it: no entries, no extra tries, no hints and no extra time. Nothing about the tournament is sold, and no prize is paid, through Plus or its seller.

B13. Law, language and complaints. These terms are governed by the law of Malta. This choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. The contract language is English. We don’t keep a copy of your contract for you; these terms stay online with their date, and past versions are kept. Please contact us first at contact@wattsfor.ai.
